Recruitment now open for police officers
Is becoming a police officer your dream? Now is your chance to apply.
Recruitment has opened to join Sussex Police as a police officer.
As a police officer you will work where you’re most needed, prioritising the areas where communities face the greatest challenges. The role of a police constable is a unique job that makes a real difference in the community. Additional officers will increase visibility and accessibility, helping to solve local community issues such as anti-social behaviour.
Sussex Police is recruiting additional police constables to strengthen local policing. This recruitment forms part of the drive to protect the most vulnerable by recruiting 800 police officers over the next four years to work across Sussex, which will give us an additional 200 police officers than we have got today, following the rise in council tax.
Deputy Chief Constable Bernie O’Reilly believes this is a great time to join Sussex Police. “Policing is a fantastic career - interesting, varied and fulfilling. Our teams have a real sense of pride in the work they do every day to protect people. During the same shift you will protect victims of domestic abuse, respond to emergency incidents with only minutes to work out what’s happened and relentlessly pursue criminals. You will be brave, compassionate and professional at all times. Your values will be solid – you will be supported and trusted to make decisions that can have significant consequences. We only recruit the best – is that you ?”
Commenting on the recruitment drive, Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne said: “This new round of police officer recruitment is excellent news for Sussex Police and for the communities they serve, acknowledging that the public need to see and feel a difference from strengthened local policing.”
The application window for police constables opens on Monday, 30 July and will remain open until midnight Wednesday 15 August.
