Police thank Seagulls supporters for 'a great day'
Sussex Police estimate that nearly 60,000 people descended on Brighton and Hove seafront on Sunday afternoon (May 14) to celebrate Brighton and Hove Albion's promotion to the Premier League.
And they've congratulated them for their good humour and behaviour.
Superintendent Jane Derrick, who led the policing operation in support of the parade from Madeira Drive to Hove Lawns, said: "It was a great day and I'd like to thank everyone, including the club and their stewards, but especially the supporters who turned out in such numbers, for making our job a pleasure.
"We look forward to joining them in seeing the Seagulls playing in the Premier League next season.
"Also, a big thanks to residents along and close by to the route who were very patient, having had their Sunday afternoon disrupted."
As the crowds dispersed around 8pm, there had been no arrests.
