Brighton visitor beaten up in city park

A visitor to Brighton ended up needing hospital treatment after being attacked in East Brighton park on Tuesday (15 May), and now police are seeking witnesses to the assault.

It occurred between 4pm and 4.20pm. A 24-year-old man from Benfleet, Essex, was sitting in the park when he was set upon.

Two white men, both in their late teens and both 5'6", are belived to have been responsible. One had short fair hair and was wearing a white t-shirt and shorts, and the other had brown hair and was wearing sunglasses.

Detective Constable Melanie Down, investigating, said: " This was a vicious and unprovoked attack on a visitor to the city. He suffered a fractured cheek bone which required hospital treatment.

"I'd ask anyone who saw what happened or who helped the victim after he was attacked to come forward."
