Local priorities

Over the next few months we will be helping to assist our communications team with a campaign to increase assistance for those in our communities with Speech or Communication Difficulties.

A card has been created which can be applied for through our website at www.sussex.pnn.police.uk/pegasus

How does he Pegasus Card work?

If you need to call the police in an emergency, you shouldnt have to worry that the person on the other end of the phone wont be able to understand you.
When you register for a free Pegasus card, you tell us the information wed need to know about you in an emergency. You are then given a PIN number on your Pegasus card.

If you need to contact us by phone:

When the police answer, you say Pegasus and tell them your PIN.
They will use your PIN number to confirm your name, address and communication requirements.

If you need to contact us in person:
Show the emergency services representative your Pegasus Card
The officer will then be able to find information you have given us
This means they will be able to help you more easily.

Who can register for a Pegasus Card?

Anyone who has a disability or condition that may make it hard to communicate with the police in an emergency or difficult situation can register.

How can you register for a Pegasus Card?

Visit our website www.sussex.pnn.police.uk/prgasus and complete the form or call 101

If you re deaf, hard of hearing or speech impaired you can call 101 using the textphone number 18001 101.

Issue raised on 20 Jan 2015

This will be an ongoing Campaign for Sussex Police
